THE YOUNG FABLES HONOR THE LEGENDARY BILL WITHERS WITH THE RELEASE OF “AIN’T NO SUNSHINE”

The Young Fables, the modern traditional country duo that’s been applauded by outlets like Rolling Stone, CMT, Taste of Country and The Ty Bentli Show, pays homage to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Grammy award winner Bill Withers on their latest release Ain’t No Sunshine. Produced by the Grammy award winning Mitch Dane, their version finds Laurel Wrights’ velvet vocals in a dance with Wes Lunsford’s Gretsch guitar matching her step for step.

“The first Bill Withers record I heard was Live at Carnegie Hall and he shines on that album,” recalls Laurel. “You can tell he loves what he does, the people who play with him and the audience. Ain’t No Sunshine is one of our favorites to play, because it is such an open song. You can play with the spaces and make it your own and it still works!”

The Young Fables video for Ain’t No Sunshine will premiere on WideOpenCountry.com on Wednesday, September 18 to coincide with the 48th Anniversary of when Bill Withers peaked on the Billboard Charts with this single in 1971. Fans can purchase and stream the single on Apple Music, iTunes, Spotify, Amazon and Google Play.

The Young Fables recently premiered the trailer for their documentary The Fable of a Song. Directed by the award winning Andy Strohl, the documentary will spotlight how a single song titled Daddy’s Girl took on a new life through the experiences of The Young Fables during this journey, particularly focusing on the losses that duo member Laurel Wright suffered within a short eight months. Via intimate interviews with Laurel and Wes, their families and industry teammates, the more than 100 hours of footage will culminate in a final presentation that takes a viewer from the first writing session to their current foothold as emboldened spokespersons and performers in the revivifying modern traditional country field. Further enhancing this documentary, OnenO (aka Kevin Hastings), whose resume includes works with Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Adam Lambert and Miguel, created the original score for The Fable of a Song.

The Young Fables were most recently profiled in the premiere of USA Network’s Real Country, a showcase series anchored by Shania Twain, Jake Owen and Travis Tritt. “When I heard Laurel’s voice for the first time, it was just extremely impressive,” said Twain. “Wes is a perfect partner for Laurel’s voice. I fell in love with these guys as a genuine, authentic talent and sound. We need you in this industry right now.” That showcase was preceded by a “10 Best Country and Americana Songs of the Week” honor from Rolling Stone when they released their version of Patsy Cline’s iconic hit Crazy. “Simple and heartbreakingly direct,” noted RS. “Laurel Wright’s voice and Wesley Lunsford’s Chet Atkins-worthy guitar playing are the only instruments, resulting in a poignant performance that’s as lonely as the song’s lyrics.” Crazy can be downloaded or streamed at the following links: Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon and Google Play

About The Young Fables

The Young Fables (TYF) are a promising modern, traditional country duo comprised of three-time American Idol vet Laurel Wright and accomplished guitarist and vocalist Wes Lunsford. The act hails from Maryville, TN and has already collected impressive accolades including the Grand Prize at the Texaco Country Showdown which landed Laurel on the Ryman Auditorium stage at age 16. TYF first engaged and organically expanded their grassroots following while on the road supporting their debut release Two in 2017. They’ve appeared with such notable acts as Lauren Alaina, Josh Turner, Sara Evans, Chris Janson, Randy Houser, The Band Perry and Chris Lane. Capturing the ears of three of the industry’s most revered names, Keith Urban said they “had me immediately,” Big Machine CEO Scott Borchetta praised “a flawless vocal” and Sheryl Crow tweeted, “Just heard The Young Fables in the Nashville Airport. Laurel’s as good as any country singer out there!” The nationally syndicated Cumulus morning show The Ty Bentli Show embraced the duo featuring them regularly in the hot topic #10MinuteTune segment. In addition, CMT exclusively premiered the music videos for Completely and Half as Good with both going on to garner regular rotation on country music video channels.

Following the launch in May of 2018, the rave reviews and impact of their sophomore release Old Songs, a ten song album produced by the Grammy award winning Mitch Dane (Jars of Clay, Brandon Heath & Caedmon’s Call), secured TYF their first of two consecutive appearances at the CMA Music Festival. Old Songs can be downloaded or streamed on iTunes, Spotify, & Amazon.
