Lockwood Barr Pleads To Get Direction On A Dissipating Relationship With Her New Release “Already Gone”

Barr’s Using the Launch to Encourage Listeners to “Keep Tahoe Blue” Before the Natural Landscape is Already Gone

California native recording artist and activist, Lockwood Barr’s seeing the writing on the wall with a faded and passionless relationship in her latest release, Already Gone.  Dropping on all major online retailers on Friday, July 23, fans can pre-save the single on Spotify by visiting: https://show.co/Jp5gvli.

“I know this song is angry and emotional, but it’s shamelessly fun to sing,” says Lockwood. “It’s all about the groove. There’s no winning side to a breakup, and often times people choose to stay and let it linger rather than ripping the Band-Aid off. Writing this was all about ripping that metaphorical Band-Aid off.”

Penned by Lockwood, Fredrick Wayne Shafer and her producer Jamey Perrenot, Already Gone is also serving as an opportunity for this Golden State Native to shine a spotlight on the “Keep Tahoe Blue” campaign. Reared just a couple hours away in Tiburon, the Lake Tahoe area has always been a part of her experiences throughout her life serving as a frequent escape to one of the most unique and picturesque landscape on the globe. “Keep Tahoe Blue” is a campaign anchored by The League to Save Lake Tahoe, Tahoe’s oldest, largest and most successful environmental advocacy organization. The group was founded in 1957 by a group of concerned Tahoe-lovers in reaction to plans to develop the Tahoe Basin with four-lane highways ringing the Lake, a bridge over Emerald Bay and a population to rival San Francisco. Fortunately, the League succeeded in defeating that plan, kicking off a homegrown environmental movement that has inspired countless other campaigns around the world, from Asia to South America. At the heart of that first effort was the desire to protect Tahoe’s unique natural environment, so it can be enjoyed for generations to come. Nearly sixty-five years later, the League’s mission remains the same.

Barr will be raising funds for the organization when she executes her single release event on July 23. Using quarantine time to recalibrate her efforts, Lockwood penned material for her next project and helped build the “Stories & Songs” drive-in concert series spearheaded by Cheley Tackett that was anchored at Nashville Craft Distillery throughout the summer of 2020. In addition, she expanded her outreach to her fans by publishing mental health tips to help her audiences cope through the challenges of life in a pandemic. This wasn’t Lockwood’s first extension into mental health awareness as she previously worked for a decade, after losing a friend to suicide when she was in high school, with a group that lobbied to add suicide prevention nets to the Golden Gate Bridge. Their efforts paid off and the nets are projected to be installed in 2021.

About Lockwood Barr
From the moment she steps into the spotlight and begins picking her banjo – her dad’s 1972 Gibson Masterstone to be exact – it is undeniable that being on stage is where Lockwood Barr feels most at home. Selected as an emerging artist to watch by the Country Music Association in both 2016 and 2017, this Tiburon, CA native songwriter and Vanderbilt graduate was awarded an Independent Country Music Association award as banjo player and vocalist for the Nashvegas Rambler. Barr released her debut project, Signs Along the Road in 2016 which was produced by Matt Odmark of the Grammy Award-winning band Jars of Clay.

“She has the goods…” writes Music Row Magazine. “Barr exudes natural talent and her career in the music business seems promising.”

Lockwood has crafted a unique sound that is here to stay: unapologetically bold yet playfully relatable. In the Nashville area, fans can hear Lockwood’s voice as the artist behind the theme song for Rhythm Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. Her previous release Helluva Habit was exclusively premiered via American Songwriter Magazine and even secured her a spot on the Academy of Country Music’s New Music Friday playlist when it launched. When it comes to emerging women in today’s country music scene, it is clear that Lockwood – armed with killer musicianship and a personality that shines as bright as her electrifying blue eyes – is truly raising the Barr.
