SUMMARY:“City Hall & Public Square” Launch
DESCRIPTION:The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County will celebrate the launch of a new virtual and audio walking tour: “City Hall and Public Square” at 3:00 p.m. Sunday\, April 19\, 2026\, on the steps of the Historic Courthouse & City Hall (weather permitting*). \nHosted on the free digital platform NashvilleSites.org\, the tour offers residents and visitors an inside look at one of the city’s most impressive civic spaces. It explores how the history of the Davidson County Courthouse and the Public Square reflect the city’s growth and evolving democratic life\, from 18th and 19th Century wooden and brick buildings to the 1937 Art Deco limestone design that brought all branches of local government together under one roof. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and houses the Office of the Mayor\, the Metropolitan Council\, and X/number of court rooms. \n*In the event of inclement weather\, the celebration will take place inside the Historic Courthouse and City Hall on the second floor mezzanine.

SUMMARY:Phil the House with Art & Friends
DESCRIPTION:Named in honor of founder and President Emeritus Phil Claiborne\, the beloved annual event celebrates his artistic legacy and longstanding impact on the preservation of Two Rivers Mansion. The event has traditionally featured Claiborne’s artwork alongside that of noted artist Phil Ponder\, continuing a meaningful tradition that blends art\, history\, and community. \n“While Two Rivers Mansion was closed for two years going through its most significant restoration in its almost 170-year history\,” says Friends of Two Rivers President Jeff Syracuse. “The Friends of Two Rivers were hard at work to prepare for our grand re-opening\, and we created our most exciting and extensive event and tour calendar to date. We look forward to welcoming you back to Two Rivers this year to experience all the events\, tours\, and educational programs we offer.” \nThis year’s featured exhibit\, “Timeless Passages” by Robert MacDonald\, offers a fresh and visually striking look at Two Rivers Mansion through changing seasons\, light\, and atmosphere. Guests will see the property in ways that feel both familiar and entirely new. In addition to the featured collection\, a wide variety of MacDonald’s work will be on display — from bold abstracts to more traditional styles — with pieces available for purchase. \nGuests are invited to enjoy a relaxed afternoon of art\, community\, and the beauty of one of Nashville’s most treasured historic properties. Admission is free and open to all. Special thanks to Nashville Adventures for sponsoring this year’s event.
