Award-Winning Artist Debbie Cochran Shares “My Heart at Christmas” – A Holiday Collection

*Featuring a Duet with Gary Morris Re-Imagining His Holiday Standard My Son*

Debbie Cochran is making the holiday season merrier with the release of her first Christmas album, My Heart at Christmas, featuring a new duet version of My Son with Broadway and Country music legend Gary Morris. Currently available AmazonApple MusicPandoraSpotifyYouTube and all additional major online retailers, My Heart at Christmas is an eleven track album filled with seasonal favorites and even an original new selection penned by Debbie all crafted under the production of Kent Wells (Dolly Parton).

“The stars lined up perfectly for my very first Christmas album,” says Debbie. “I am so honored that a legend, Gary Morris, would first send this beautiful song titled My Son for my Christmas project and secondly, make it a duet. My cup runneth over. Special thanks to my wonderful producer and friend, Kent Wells. This is My Heart at Christmas.”

Wells, who is a mainstay in shepherding along Debbie’s sound, is eager for people to hear the new project saying, “Debbie Cochran is not only one of my best friends, but she’s one of the most authentic singer/songwriters I have had the pleasure of working with. I can’t wait for her new records to be heard by all!”

My Son, the lead single from the project, was previously released as a solo track in 1998 by Gary Morris. The song is a narrative based on mother Mary’s immeasurable love for her son Jesus. For gospel and country fans who know this Morris Christmas classic, nostalgia is not the only take away. This completely revisited track maintains its original warm country ballad style, but gains a totally new dynamic when paired with the voice of Debbie Cochran.

“I found a new studio, a great producer and a fabulous artist when I went into the studio to record with Debbie Cochran. I can’t wait to hear the finished product.” says Morris.

About Debbie Cochran
With musical roots in Alabama, Texas and Arkansas (Cochran smiles as she claims, “three doses of southern drawl”), Debbie and her family would gather around the piano singing their original songs and beautiful harmonies. Those key based instruments opened the flood gates to a lifelong passion of instrumental and vocal discovery. Throughout her musical journey, Debbie learned to play the piano, mountain dulcimer, acoustic guitar and bass guitar while honing her talents as a songwriter.

Her style would be described as a golden gospel voice with traditional country undertones. Debbie anchors her sounds in her church reared impressionable years and her love of early Reba McEntire and Martina McBride tracks.

Debbie’s dream of writing and singing songs on the “Nashville Stage” gave her the courage to open the doors to recording her very first album with Kent Wells (Dolly Parton, Neal McCoy & Michael Peterson), who inspired the whole project with four simple, but prophetic words, “It’s Never Too Late,” which was the first of Debbie’s songs to garner radio airplay and also earned her the DisCovery Award given by Robert K. Oermann of Music Row Magazine. In 2020, Debbie would continue winning over the industry by capturing “Vocalist of the Year” in the Christian/Gospel category at the Josie Awards.

Before turning to the production ears of Kent Wells to guide her, the only outlet she had to share her music with the world was on a stage that her husband built in their hometown of Batesville, AR. When Debbie isn’t on stage, she spends her autumn years traveling the world with her husband in an RV. Debbie’s story and music is one that has spread smiles and serves as a testament to the vitality of the human spirit. She lives her lyrics every day that she steps in the studio, writes a new song or hits the lights center stage.

His recording career garnered five #1 and 16 Top 10 singles, including “Why Lady Why,” “The Love She Found in Me” and “Baby Bye Bye.” Morris’ original rendition of the classic “Wind Beneath My Wings” won both the Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music “Song of the Year” awards. Morris was also named Billboard’s “Male Artist of the Year” early in his career. At the height of his Nashville recording career, the Texas-bred tenor was tapped to play the lead role of Jean Valjean in Broadway’s epic hit “Les Misérables,” to critical acclaim.  This role led to a Drama Desk Award nomination. His famous rendition of “Bring Him Home” on the platinum-selling, Grammy Award-winning international cast album resulted in a Command Performance by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Additional Broadway roles include Rodolfo in the production of Puccini’s opera “La Bohéme.”

Morris’ love of the great outdoors, combined with this respect and compassion for veterans, has resulted in his affiliation with Fly Fishers International and its Abilene Fly Fishers club.
