Americana and Folk Country Duo Boo Radley’s New Single “Stories Down Below” Is Available Today On All Streaming Platforms

Boo Radley, the Americana and folk-country husband and wife duo, is releasing their breakthrough single Stories Down Below today on Amazon, Apple Music, and Spotify. Stories Down Below is written with eerie, intertwining, melodic harmonies inspired by the sibylline waters of Wakulla Springs, Florida. The Ohio and Maryland natives banned together with mixing engineer Peter Coleman (Blondie, Jason Aldean, Montgomery Gentry, and more) with popular accompanying musicians Greg Morrow on drums, Glenn Worf on bass, Jonathan Yudkin on the violin, and Wanda Vick Burchfield (Taylor Swift, Jason Aldean with Alabama, Billy Ray Cyrus, George Jones, Dolly Parton, Wynonna, and more) busting on the banjo.

“The song is written from the crossroads of trials and perseverance. When we feel closest to giving up, that is when we must dig into the past, unravel the stories from down below and uncover the lessons of tomorrow,” said Boo Radley.

No stranger to life’s hardships, the duo pulls from a personal reservoir to write their songs. Michael, since his 2009 Glaucoma diagnosis, has overcome over 30 eye surgeries and one eye removal. Patty, officially dubbed logistics manager of the band, has survived many trials, beginning with the loss of her father to lung cancer when she was only twelve. With a combined resource of wisdom, Boo Radley hopes their single Stories Down Below will encourage listeners to embrace the past in the name of perseverance and enlightenment.

Patty, the lead vocalist, and Michael, guitarist and vocalist, have performed at over 700 live events since their genesis in 2014. Some of their most gratifying shows include performances for veterans and homeless shelters in the Tallahassee area.

Boo Radley’s latest release, Stories Down Below, is now available on all streaming platforms and is accompanied by a lyric video now available on their YouTube channel.

About Boo Radley
Hailing from Ohio and Maryland originally, they connected at a show in Tallahassee, Florida where Michael was performing with his band. In 2013, Michael’s band broke up, which led to the creation of the acoustic duo with Patty, Boo Radley. In April 2016, Michael and Patty decided to perform in Nashville while en route to Ohio to visit family. The performance led to the duo’s introduction to Fred Vail, then-owner of Treasure Isle Recorders. After raising $38,000 through crowd funding, they recorded their EP, “More than Meets the Eye,” in December 2016.

Before the creation of Boo Radley, Michael had moved to Nashville in the late 80s with a heavy metal band called Salem’s Lot and was recording demos at RCA Studio for the legendary Clive Davis. Shifting gears completely, Michael accepted a calling to travel to India to serve as a missionary to orphans. While en route to India, he stopped in the Philippines, to gain firsthand experience living in a third-world country. In Manila, he became guitarist/singer/songwriter for a well-known band, The Breed. After The Breed, Michael gained great celebrity with a band called Battery. During his tenure, the songsmith wrote and recorded with multi-platinum artists in the Philippines, including Gary Valenciano (“Gary V”) and Side A Band.

Maryland native Patty began penning songs as a child. She has continued to write throughout her life, finding her writing a great release of often turbulent feelings. From the late ‘80’s through the next decade, Patty worked as front person for a local rock band before becoming lead singer with a long-running cover/variety band performing along the Mid-Atlantic Coast. Though she has written practically all of her life, she never presented her writing to the public before the creation of Boo Radley.

“I found it extremely intimidating when we first performed our original songs in public. I learned that as I bare my soul to the world, I have to do it through a high level of trust; trust in my partner, trust in the knowledge that I have gained along the way, trust in the listener who receives the message, but mostly trust that I’m doing what God wants me to do with the gift He has given me,” says Patty.
