Williamson County’s African American Oral History

“Since moving to Franklin in ’93, I have become embraced in Franklin’s rich culture of stories and moreover, the legacy of the many people who helped shape our shared history. I called my good friend Alma McLemore to ask if she thought it was a good idea to record oral histories and whether anybody from the African American community would be willing to talk to me. I didn’t know what to expect and was happy with the candor and level of stories which were shared. I wanted to gift this to our community. This is just the tip of the iceberg. So much more to discover and tell”
