Sam Brooker, StaySam Brooker, a performer, songwriter and music business maven who rose to critical success as one half of the celebrated duo Sam & Ruby, will exclusively premiere the official video for the debut single Stay on AXS.com on Monday, October 10th. The single, which is available now on iTunes and all major online retailers, is the first release from his forthcoming solo project and self-titled EP.

I too take an invested interest in the business aspect of this industry. Between the duo and Stay, I was fortunate to build a successful music publishing company. We saw phenomenal success with Florida Georgia Line’s Cruise, so I am grateful that this organization believes in my music.  I hope the fans enjoy this album and video as much as I enjoyed making it.”

Directed by Carl Diebold, the video follows two strangers that meet through mutual friends, and despite having limited time together, imagine what could develop from their natural chemistry. With picturesque shots of Nashville’s skyline and artistic glimpses of the city’s streets, the video captures the romanticism of a fleeting love affair and the attractive beauty of life’s mystery.

“It’s a song about taking chances on the unknown,” said Sam. “We all start a relationship with the potential for being hurt down the road, but if we don’t take a chance, we will never know what could have been. Life is like that—we are faced with infinite possibilities and infinite ways our story could be written; it’s up to us to write it.”

The video premiere comes after a recent visit to one of the Ryan Seacrest Foundation’s Seacrest Studios located at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville. In a closed-circuit broadcast throughout the multiple facilities of the hospital, he entertained patients and their families by singing a mix of covers and originals, playing games with the staff and answering questions submitted by the patients.

James Taylor, Lyle Lovett and Paul Simon were some of the first artists Sam became familiar with on those instruments. AR would go on to secure additional cuts with Florida Georgia Line and acts like Kristian Bush, Chase Rice and Colt Ford. Also in the business arena, he founded Remix Hits with Matt Wilder, a tech company that is developing software to automate the process of sampling and licensing to create new revenue streams for the entire music ecosystem. With the catalog of works that he had built along the journey since Sam & Ruby, he compiled his top selections across the country and adult contemporary genre and will be releasing a full self-title EP featuring the debut single Stay.
