Hank Williams, Sr. Book Reveals Rare View on Family, Fans & Power of Healing

(Nashville, TN) The daughter of country singer Hank Williams, Sr. is sharing her family’s heartfelt experiences about love and loss in the death of the music icon.  In the book, Dear Mama Williams, Lycrecia Williams Hoover and co-author Dale Vinicur, share never before printed letters, cards, memories, and photos about the life, times, and passing of the legendary artist.

In 1953, the music world was stunned when Hank Williams died at the age of 29.  According to Lycrecia, “radio DJs told their listeners that his mother was lonesome and heartbroken due to his death, and gave out her address in hopes that fans would send sympathy cards and words of encouragement.”  As a result, the Williams family was able to gain tremendous strength and comfort from fans around the world as they struggled to cope during those “fragile moments.”

Lycrecia’s mother, Audrey, preserved the cards, letters, and pictures which were sent more than 50 years ago.  She later passed them on to Lycrecia who is now sharing them with the world as a unique way of honoring Hank’s memory along with using proceeds from the book to help people with substance abuse problems--an issue her family faced first hand.  Funding from Dear Mama Williams will go to Audrey’s Dream Inc., a non-profit organization founded by Lycrecia which offers information and support for those with addictions as well as provide help for their families.

Lycrecia is available to do interviews/guest segments about Dear Mama Williams, in addition to sharing stories about the extraordinary life and career of Hank Williams, Sr.

On Saturday, February 26th, the authors will be on hand for a book signing party from 3-5 p.m. at the Ernest Tubb Record Shop, located at 417 Broadway in Downtown Nashville.
